Worship Wednesday

Prayer is an integral part of worship. It is just one of the ways we can communicate with God. Prayer helps our relationship with Him grow stronger. Even though the Lord knows our thoughts and our requests before we even speak them aloud, His desire for us is still to talk with Him.

This is where F.A.R.T. comes in. (Stop laughing, Rachel. Mom, don't look so surprised.) Many of you may have heard of different acronyms for praying. One of the most popular is A.C.T.S. Easy to remember, right? After all, it's a book of the Bible. It stands for
  • A - Adoration
  • C- Confession
  • T-Thanksgiving
  • S-Supplication

However, my dad learned F.A.R.T. from my cousin, Pete. :) It stands for

  • F-Forgiveness (Like confession)
  • A- Adoration
  • R-Reconciliation
  • T-Thanksgiving

Okay, so this is a lighthearted look at prayer, but it really is important to spend that time with God. To be still, and listen for His voice. To lift up each other in prayer. We are fortunate to live in a country where we are allowed to pray without condemnation. That is one thing I am thankful for!

I've always thought we should start with confession because if we hold sin in our hearts, how can God honor our prayers. Why would we not do that right away and then go into the adoration part? Anyway, FART makes sense to me. :)
